About iChapter
iChapter Network was founded in 2004 as an Internet Technology Service Provider
(ITSP) specializing in web-based membership and reservations management systems
for non-profit organizations. While many services in the industry exist supporting
these services, iChapter network is different because iChapter Network:
-
caters to the unique needs of a
specific organization, like the American Production and Inventory Control Society
(APICS) or the Institute for Supply Chain Managers (ISM) and not the "world" of
non-profits.
-
dedicates resources only to a given
non-profit organization. In other words we don't make one shoe fit all organizations
-
spends time studying and understanding
the need of the non-profit, in building your web site, before the first reservations
is taken
-
offers a standard "template" for
a given organization. This template usually mimics the home or headquarters organization
and in turn can reduce your costs for an install and get your organization setup
quickly
-
is the low cost leader in providing
services. No service in the industry charges less per on-line reservation transaction
than iChapter Network!
Our Infrastructure
Technology
iChapter Network uses Microsoft .NET technology to link web sites and data sources.
This means your web site can be hosted anywhere in the world but must be hosted
on a Microsoft .NET technology server. That should not be an issue since most all
Windows based hosting services provide this feature at no addition cost. If you
are not currently running on a Windows .NET based server for your web site, we can
recommend services at affordable prices that can support you. Two most recommended
services are:
Equipment/Servers
iChapter Network "backend" is run on iChapter Network owned HP DL360 G4p servers
purchased in 2006 and 2007, considered to be some of the most reliable computer
server equipment in the industry. These servers support:
- dual, redundant power supplies
- dual, redundant ethernet cards
capable of 1GB (NIC)
- dual, redundant SCSI (high
speed) 73GB hard drives
- multiple redundancy cooling
fans
- dual 3.0 GHz (dual-core) Intel
Xeon processors
Data Center
iChapter Network is hosted out of the ActiveHost data center in Albany, NY. This
is a really strong and well accommodated datacenter which provides:
- battery backup power for short-lived
data outages and power filtering
- diesel generator backup power
for extended power outages
- multiple Internet backbone
providers (AT&T, Sprint and others) for redundant network connectivity
- concrete data center enclosure
with logged (access) security required
- third floor accomodations,
above ground level to address any flooding concerns
- cooling (for the computer servers)
is stricly managed via server rack/row arrangement
- two system power management,
server a/c power is managed via independent city and battery backup so periodic
maintenance can be performed without inturruption to customers
